My 25th Anniversary Cobra so far, after picking up the Cobra Legions 5-pack.

I found the Cobra Legions 5-pack at Wal-Mart (Easton location) yesterday. It comes with another Cobra Commander, another Storm Shadow (in Valor Vs. Venom colors, crazy!), a gray Cobra Vehicle Driver, a Cobra Air Trooper, and a Marvel Comic-styled Cobra Trooper.

I don't really need the Cobra Commander or Storm Shadow, and the generics are nice and all, but what really makes this set pop is the presentation. There's a 3D cardboard stage/podium, banners, and a backdrop of an army generics. I like how the generics rendered in the background correspond to the figure in the foreground, with red ninjas behind Storm Shadow, more Marvel Comics troopers behind the Marvel Comics trooper, Cromson Guard dudes (and Tomax and Xamot) behind Cobra Commander, etc. There's also Destro and the Baroness smooshed into the inner left side of the groupshot, amongst the red ninjas.

I was able to disassemble these elements and reincorporate them for my own purposes, as you can see.

But most importantly, the set comes with that giant plastic Cobra soundbox that plays an abbreviated clip from the opening of G.I. Joe the movie. The clip is abbreviated as follows:

CRASHING THROUGH THE SKY
COMES THE FEARFUL CRY
COBRA (cobra)
COBRA (cobra)
NOWHERE TO RUN
WHO CAN TURN THE TIDE?
G.I. JOE!

There are two other shorter clips, if you hit the button again. The second says "COBRA (cobra), COBRA (cobra)" and the third repeats "G.I. JOE!"

It is glorious, and everything I've ever wanted.

Graham put that together while I wasn't looking, and I have dubbed him Professor DeSnako.

Bah, as usual these suckers show up everywhere but here (of course, everywhere is a generalization, but I collect toys, so complaining irrationally is just inate). Somehow Ohio can get this stuff quick, but lower Michigan has to wait another few weeks to a month.

Anyhow, I love the setup for this set. The packaging is great, and (though some are strange) I like the figure choices. I'm glad they are continuing these little sets!

QUESTION: Can Storm Shadow hold his swords yet? Does this one also fall prey to his butterfingers?

I'd about get the set just for the Cobra soundbox. Doesn't really hurt that the set contains 3 army builders as well.

Now just provided I can find the pack considering how quickly the shelves get cleared out around here of the single packs.

Man that's purdy. Too bad these figures are next to impossible to find. Half the Wal-marts I check don't even carry them. Same for the Targets and the only TRU in the area.

When they do carry them all I find are a couple of Snake Eyes and Cobra Commanders on the pegs.

Man, I can't find the new Joes anywhere in Metro Detroit. I wonder when we'll find these en masse.

I love the opening to the GIJoe movie. They should hurry up an make the GIJoe broadway musical using that song as the basis for everything.

That is a hot fudge awesome, with two scoops of awesome covered in awesome sauce, with an awesome on top.

I can watch the G.I.Joe: the movie opening all day. :) When Duke basically KILLS Major Bludd (who is never seen again) He should totally shout "OWNED!" instead of Yo, Joe. :P

They should have had blue Ninja Vipers, not Red Ninjas.

(Storm Shadow was responsible for the NV program, I don't think he's affiliated with the Red Ninjas at all, unless their filecards had a different backstory.)

Yeah, I just found this over at the Easton Walmart here in Columbus, pretty cool. I also found Buzzer at the Target across the street and
when I got home, the UPS guy dropped off a package, turned out I won a "Pepsi Optimus Prime" from that Mountain Dew/Yahoo contest a couple months ago. (He looks smaller to me then original G1 Op...) All in all, a pretty good day for toys! :)
