too!, Frenzy wants to read

(no subject)

Shortpacked!: Amazi-Girl strongest one there is!

I knew that as soon as the Transformers movie hit DVD, I'd have the source material I so craved when I first started adding extra paint to my movie toys. I also knew it'd mean I'd learn which parts I did wrong. There was a lot of guesswork and memory recall involved!

Basically, that means it's paint touch-up time. Also... paint removal time, in some places. Oops. Regardless, I started fiddling with the colors on Ratchet's head again. When I first got the toy, the head was pretty bare, detailing only his "mustache" and a few tiny red stripes. Unfortunately, Ratchet's head is much more black than green, so I "fixed" it to the best of my recollection a few months ago. And now with DVD screenshots at my disposal, it was time for another pass!

Now, the translation isn't perfect; the toy's sculpt was based on early designs, not the finished model, so some details aren't actually there, nor are they always in the proper proportions. So some fudging was needed. The shapes around the eyes, for example, just aren't there, and the nose is much shorter in the movie than on the toy. But I did what I could. What made the most difference, to me, was adding the eye-light dots. He came alive at that point.

(I also painted green along the top of his shoulders. The toy's torso is actually upside-down, compared to the movie's model. Some sacrifices had to be made to keep the toy workable, of course, but I tried to bridge the gap between the two takes with color.)

Shortpacked!: A Coloring Book
The Shortpacked! coloring book is a hit! Here's another preview page for y'alls to drool over. I'm also thinking of holding some sort of coloring contest. I want to see some crayons, yo. Perhaps the best artist, as judged by me, will get a free sketch? Does that sound worth it? If so, let me know, and I'll figger out the details and deadlines.
It's not too late! If you haven't drown yourself yet in coloring book glory, donate any amount through the Paypal link above, and you'll be automatically redirected to the URL with the PDF link. Print out that sucker, grab your coloring tools of choice, and rock our worlds.
