Skeeball!

(no subject)

My 25th Anniversary Cobra so far, after picking up the Cobra Legions 5-pack.

I found the Cobra Legions 5-pack at Wal-Mart (Easton location) yesterday. It comes with another Cobra Commander, another Storm Shadow (in Valor Vs. Venom colors, crazy!), a gray Cobra Vehicle Driver, a Cobra Air Trooper, and a Marvel Comic-styled Cobra Trooper.

I don't really need the Cobra Commander or Storm Shadow, and the generics are nice and all, but what really makes this set pop is the presentation. There's a 3D cardboard stage/podium, banners, and a backdrop of an army generics. I like how the generics rendered in the background correspond to the figure in the foreground, with red ninjas behind Storm Shadow, more Marvel Comics troopers behind the Marvel Comics trooper, Cromson Guard dudes (and Tomax and Xamot) behind Cobra Commander, etc. There's also Destro and the Baroness smooshed into the inner left side of the groupshot, amongst the red ninjas.

I was able to disassemble these elements and reincorporate them for my own purposes, as you can see.

But most importantly, the set comes with that giant plastic Cobra soundbox that plays an abbreviated clip from the opening of G.I. Joe the movie. The clip is abbreviated as follows:

CRASHING THROUGH THE SKY
COMES THE FEARFUL CRY
COBRA (cobra)
COBRA (cobra)
NOWHERE TO RUN
WHO CAN TURN THE TIDE?
G.I. JOE!

There are two other shorter clips, if you hit the button again. The second says "COBRA (cobra), COBRA (cobra)" and the third repeats "G.I. JOE!"

It is glorious, and everything I've ever wanted.
