Shortpacked!: Apocrypha. I've put up Project Wonderful skyscraper… - Shortpacked!
I've put up Project Wonderful
skyscraper ads on all my pages! Go buy yourself some prime-ass real estate
. Over 2 million pages a month!Holy cow there was toy news today.
of Hasbro's 25th Anniversary line of Real American Hero
G.I. Joes was revealed. (I can't get the image to show up on Hasbro's website
, so I linked the image directly.) We are so very surprised this guy's in this line, I am sure. I was waiting to see how these things would look before committing to wanting to maybe buy some, and it looks like there's a possibility I will trade some currency for these. Hasbro promised in their press release more articulation than before at this scale, and it looks like they're not liars. He's got double-jointed knees so he can crouch better, and probably all manner of swivel joints at the ends of his cuffs and sleeves. I think I'd prefer if the heads were a little bigger, though. Bring on Destro! Big Bad Toy Store
put up preorders for a Soundwave MP3 player
. Available in both white (like an iPod) and blue (like Soundwave)! Holy crap, that's nifty. I don't have an MP3 player, and I'd want an updated Soundwave anyway, so I am interested. He's probably going to be pretty small, though, if he's gonna fit in your pocket! That's actually pretty neat, regardless.
Along the same lines, also for preorder at BBTS, is the Optimus Prime iPod docking bay
. He's white, like an iPod, but he's sadly not Magnus. He's also got a ... new head? Aw man. This product is based on the original Optimus Prime toy, so I guess that means he'll have this new head from now on instead of the original toy's. That's too bad. Interesting, I guess. But kind of sadness-inducing. We'll likely never see the original head on a Prime reissue again. Don't have an iPod, so won't plunk down the cash. (Probably wouldn't anyway. I've got enough Primes.)
And finally, Toynami is bringing us new Futurama toys!
I must have a Zoidberg.
In toy sightings news, the Target-exclusive Classics Ultra Magnus vs. Skywarp
sets (the photo linked shows an earlier Magnus without his head painted white) are beginning to show up in stores. The DPCI# is 087-06-1191, if you wanna punch that number into their price scanners to see if your local store has them in stock yet. Additionally, wave 3 (the final) of Classics Deluxes, Cliffjumper
, have also shown up in a Walmart in California. Happy hunting!

why didn't they subtitle the TF movie "cash-in today" -_-; Yeah the soundwave MP3 player is neat but is it all really necessary?
So you want Takara to just not sell anything this year?
(Though some years they get damn close anyway.)

I need to find a place that has the "Early Release" Beast Wars toys that still has an open pre-order.
We wouldn't want them to ruin their current record now would we?
The soundwave MP3 player is damn neat, and I can bet you'll be able to get white easily but blue will be a pain in the ass. But the Optimus Ipod Trailer? They could have made it remotely transformer-ish, hell I'd be up for a concealed transformer dock or at least a gun or two on top. But hey I understand why they would be cutting down on nifty with this as the rights to apple wouldn't come cheap (and hell, it has better quality speakers than usual!).
What I don't understand is why do they want to make it look the same as every other ipod dock you see when you walk into target? it doesn't look like any effort has been spent making the load on the trailer fit in with the cab and the trailer.
However, I would be happy to be proven wrong.
Toys and collectibles in general aren't really necessary whatsoever. This, however, is pretty dang clever.
What do you expect? This has been the case for almost every popular sci-fi movie made since the 1970s.
Its all about making money, thats the only reason a movie is being made inthe firstplace. Not for cultural reasons, not to better the realm of film making, but to make money.
Takara and Hasbro are going to be making the mad bucks because they know people will buy their stuff. No matter how cool or crazy it maybe.
I for one love the concept of a fully functioning/transforming Soundwave thats and MP3 player.
Now Zoidberg is the popular one!
Yay! Zoidy! Zoidburg needs more love. ^_^

Heh, I'm still waiting them to repaint the Scion XB alternator and call him Ironhide. Correct head or not, I don't care!
Being the proud owner of a 2006 XB in Salsa Red, I'd pay a stupid price for an alternator of the same color :)

I'll never understand the desire for Ironhide to be a podunk little hatchback. He needs a form more fitting to his character and the xB is not it. His movie form is a step in the right direction.
When you say "correct head", are you meaning a remolded head that looks more like Ironhide, or using Skids' in red?
I don't care if he's using bumblebee's head, is what I'm sayin :)
That, and there was the big hoopla about Skid's head really being Ironhide's and all that.
I'm suprisedSoundwave has a Mini-SD slot. They should have just put 128MB of internal memory and left it at that! After all, Soundwave only ever plays one song. How much room does he need?

Maybe he just likes things plugged into him.
Hmmm. Okay, I'm geeking on the Soundwave MP3 player--I presume they'll color it at some point, rather than keeping it grey?
On the same token, I wonder if there'll be a 'G1-colored' version of the iPodimus Prime there, or if it'll *only* be available in the iPod/Magnus White. Also, I can't tell from the pics...do the speakers fold/collapse into a 'normal' trailer when not in use?
And on a minor tangent--I'm not seeing where you get movie tie-ins with these two--especially considering they're Takara, I'd think they'd be about as movie-related as Pepsi Prime..
And on a *different* tangent that's probably old news to some...made some interesting discoveries at the local Dollar General--several Energon Transformers in Universe packaging, including the 'Energon Saber' (which was kind of a disappointment really..parts that should be tight were loose, parts that should move well were too tight, and the finished saber...is kinda bleh), a dark recolor of Cruel-Lock/whatever the other name used on the dino was (didn't buy that one, as I already had one), Terradive (A-10, whoo! Though having a belly-mounted ball turret is a little weird..though less so than the Rattler's dorsal turret.. ;-) The blue and white color scheme is interesting), and Treadshot (interesting that that and Energon Starscream used the same plane design, and are pretty similar in size, but completely different transformations...this one is in black, blue, and a very pale blue..I'm wondering if they were originally those colors, or are these leftovers from a color-coordinated combiner set?). Two oddities, though--neither Treadshot or Terradive have the steps to turn them into combiner limbs on their instruction sheets, and the card for Treadshot shows the folding foot-panel/gun that Terradive has, which *doesn't* come with Treadshot.
*pokes at Hasbro's Transformer site, particularly the instructions section*
Hmmm. They don't even list these as 'Universe' toys, just Energon ones, in the instructions listings, anyway.
Oookay...so basically the Energon combiners were only *3* different designs (core and 2 limb designs, repeated in different colors) each? Knew I shoulda gotten a Storm Jet. Oh well. Horrible, horrible feet..I like my ye-olde Bruticus/Ruination fists and feet-plates a lot better. The connection joints look to be a lot more robust and less prone to being twisted off than the older combiner designs, though.
