Give me your face and tell me that you love me. Shortpacked!: Long, long ago...
I went back and got that Robot Heroes set that I'd passed on before! See, though the packaging claims the helicopter guy is Blackout, it lies. It is lying packaging. The character is clearly Grindor, who appears unnamed in Revenge of the Fallen.
(Blackout is dead, after all. The first movie very importantly killed him!)
Hasbro was kind enough to pack BlackoutGrindor with a double-sworded Optimus Prime. And by "kind," I mean "brutal." Poor Grindor. All you ever wanted to do was exterminate the human race! What did you ever do to deserve this kind of treatment?
Anyway, what this means is that I now have my Revenge of the Fallen forest battle all assembled and ready to go. I can put the "Forest Battle" track from the ROTF score into my Frenzy CD player and let the imagination fly.
Why doesn't my down-arrow key work?
Very annoying.

I think movie Optimus has a face fetish.
He'd probably get along with DullSurprisewave Sunstreaker.

GIVE ME YOUR FACE (spoilers!) If they ever did a massive crossover between all the franchises, there should be a scene where movie Prime goes homicidal on some Decepticons, and the other Optimus Primes are standing there gaping in shock.
I have that picture favorited on dA.
And then Hot Rod would find some way to get in the way, like he does when Prime goes homicidal.
Yeah I can see that, and then Primal starts using homicidal face-Prime as a psychological warfare tool... "We could always bring him into this discussion, but we are, after all, trying to be peaceful."

I'm really not feeling the swords. They look more like arm bannanas. the did fine with Grimlock though, so why not Prime?
Dammit, now I can only see the bananas!

"I will now teach you how to defend yourself if someone is attacking you with a banana."
Suppose he's got a pointed stick?
I just assumed Scalpel resurrected Blackout with the parts he had left over after he resurrected Megatron. There's a bit where the military dudes are all "Wait, now there's six hostiles" (or maybe eight), which doesn't make sense unless there were suddenly more hostiles than there used to be. Since the Decepticons killed one of their own for spare parts to resurrect Megatron, logically there should have been the same number of hostile blips going down as coming up, /unless/ two Decepticons were resurrected.
There was only one Allspark shard, though.
Maybe there was enough energon in it to use it twice, or maybe Blackout wasn't wrecked enough to need it. I don't know. The dialogue doesn't make sense unless there's more Decepticons coming up than going down, and that doesn't make sense unless two Decepticons got revived, and hey, there's Blackout in a big fight scene when he got killed in the first movie.

Option 1: The parted-out Constructicon was still alive and barely in shape to return to the surface.
Option 2: The doctor stayed outside of Ravage and accounted for the extra ping.
Option 3: They filmed the screen blips before they animated/wrote the scene. Whoops!
I think Grindor's from the Nemesis. Megatron leaves all the other Decepticons behind, after all, to fly to Saturn to meet up with Starscream, the Fallen, and their struggling hatchling army. And when Megatron returns to Earth, he has Starscream and this other guy. Clearly Grindor's from space.
Option 4: It's Magic (tm)
People keep insisting Bonecrusher makes a cameo near the end of ROTF. Since his head got freaking KNIFESPLODED in the first film, that would be a real feat.
But then, you've got duplicate Constructicons running around while Devastator is vacuuming the desert, so who the frak knows.

Bonecrusher's model (seems to be slightly modified with some sort of cannons on his right arm) appears both in vehicle mode and robot mode. He's just another nameless Decepticon who shares Bonecrusher's body-type.

Yeah, the Decepticons obviously fell in love with the construction industry at some point between movie 1 and 2. Not only where there all those separate vehicles that became Devistator, but there were all sorts of other construction vehicle Decepticons as well. Seemed a very odd choice to me.

Construction vehicles are a good way to mix "physically powerful form" with "low security and scrutiny". Face it, Brawl probably had a hard time getting anything done while lying low, but Demolishor could just park himself on any construction site during the day and if anyone even noticed they probably didn't raise a hue and cry...the wrong number of tanks in a laager will definitely result in an alarm of some sort. :)

Also, how exactly did non-flightworthy Decepticons like Long Haul get back up?
All Decepticons can fly as the plot demands, regardless of whether their alt mode is flight-capable.
Come on. Everyone knows that!

well...actually in the novel it explains...they killed scrapper to ressurect megatron...then took parts from him and used them on 2 other decepticons...blackout(newly names gindor) and bonecrusher(who rides into the final fight kills the arcee sisters and magiclly disappears when prime is ressurected >:) ) and then they used parts from brawl to make megatron a tank mode
The Doctor said "The Shard Make Energon" when slamming it in Megatron's chest and shocking him to life.
If the purpose of the shard was the initial burst of Energon, there's no reason they couldn't use it more than once.
(I think they put it in his chest too... I'm just sayin'.)

My down-arrow key has also been acting up lately. I think a crumb or grain of sand got underneath there, but because of the low profile of the laptop keyboard, I can't figure out how to clear it out. If I jam hard enough, the key works. But yeah, I feel your pain.
Huh, yeah, if I do slam on it, it does sort of work. Maybe I should take this thing apart.... Thanks!
Hm. No. Removed the key, but there's not much gunk or anything down there. (New keyboard.) And when I depress the mechanism inside, nada. Weird.
Maybe I'll just get a new (cheap) keyboard.

That's what you get with cheap keyboards, man. Cheapness.
The logical thing to do is spend 200 bucks on a keyboard with its own colour LCD screen (even though you will never need it). Yeah.

Completely unrelated (and probably old meme allrerady) but after AHM #12, I've started using "I am Omega Supreme" the same way you use "I'm Batman"

So is the dude on the right of the picture supposed to be Sydney's dad?
You can't kill Blackout! He's my favorite of the new Decepticons! Clearly, he sews his face back together after the events of the latest film.
Hey Walky, I'm a fan of Transformers who wants to check out forums dedicated to the subject. Are there any you would recommend?
Blackout didn't die in ROTF. He died in the first film! Lots of gunfire to his spark in his chest, delivered by Lennox scooting under his ass.
Ahh, you are correct. I just love his design! Helicopter TFs = teh_win. Right next to Rippersnapper and his T-rex arms of awesomeness. :P
Say, speaking of ROTF music . . . .
That track from the middle of the trailer, when Bay's director credit shows up, is that on the movie soundtrack? 'Cause I totally need that track.
I don't remember what song that is. Any hints? If it's in the credits, it's probably guaranteed to be on the soundtrack.
Ah, found it! Waded through streams of every track from the scores for BOTH movies.
It's a section from Scorponok's theme from the first one. An annoyingly short section, considering the incredibly long, repetitive lead up to it, grumble-grumble.
