The Changeable Robot!
Shortpacked!: Impotent liberal rage!

So last week while Graham was taking his driving test (he passed!), I was next door checking out the Big Lots. They always have great knockoffs, and sweet baby Jesus, they had that knockoff combiner made of oversized Legends-class Transformers. The arms are Hot Shots! So, of course, I kinda had to get it. Dude, it's a combiner with Hot Shots for arms. And his name is "SUPER TRANSFORM ULTIMATE END GENERAL MOBILIZATION."

There's a new balljoint hole added to "Hot Shot"'s sides, and these holes socket with a balljoint ball on the combiner torso. Meanwhile, instead of hands, he has... tongs. This combiner won't be much good unless he's battling a salad bar.

This thing is not stable. The connection point at the knees, where it shallowly pegs into the tops of the two knockoff Optimus Primes, is not at all secure. It is a precarious balancing act.

The components are also sold separately, but they're all called "Excellion" on their packaging, so I've given most of the components names of my own. The yellow "Hot Shot" is of course Hot Shot, the red one is Excellion, the gray and red "Soundwave" that slots into the torso piece is Blaster, the red" Prime" is Optimus Prime, and I haven't decided on whether the yellow "Prime" is Erector or Sureshot. (There is a real yellow Optimus Prime I can name it after, but I don't want both of them to be named Optimus Prime.) The remaining torso piece is Stumpor.

The combined mode won't fit into my display case, but I'll figure something out.

That is an *excellent* send up of Olbermann's special comments (a better written satire than yesterday's Palin speech parody). Keith's first few were okay, but after a bit they just started following a track of, "I'm saying it loudly so viewers know it's important! GRAR!"

Any chance of a Robin-Amber-Palin threeway? God I hope so.

Indeed. It's funny because Olbermann is a dick. Maddow FTW!

BTW, if Olbermann is making a special comment about Robin, does that mean she's a Republican?

I'm loving the political cartoons, David! Good times. I'm going to go ahead and start referring to myself as a liberal now, since apparently "liberal" is now defined as "not Republican hard-liner". ( _ _)

Oh man, i'm always on the lookout for a "good" knockoff, I want those so much >.< I do however have one of the "salvation in one" transformers, complete with entertaining chingrish! But what is the middle component?

The "frame" that they all connect to appears to be from the Japanese Micromaster combiners, like Sixbuilder and Sixliner. The central component acting as the chest is Cybertron Legends Soundwave.

Loads of knockoff combiners use the Sixbuilder/Turbo/Liner central frame when making combiner toys from toys that were never meant to combine :D

No idea, but it does read like a chringrish fundie transformer, the toy itself isn't any recognisable mould but damn have I been trying to find more of them.

You could always call him Hazmat Prime, after that CostCo exclusive.

Or Bananarama Prime.

Speaking per your link to the comic, perhaps the raging impotent liberals should follow the conservative example and seek medical treatment for their condition.

Dear lord do I hate Keith Olbermann. It's like he's TRYING to ape the humor of good comedic journalists like John Stewart and Stephen Colbert but at the same time wants to be treated like a serious journalist.

One reason I used to watch him was in his early years he did in fact pull off being a "more intellectual Daily Show." The news parts were thoughtful and he balanced it with irreverent humor (for example, "World's Worst" used to focus mainly on dumb crooks and not other pundits). His big thing was he didn't take himself too seriously, so that even if you disagreed with him you could still laugh alongside him.

As time's gone on, he's lost that "I'm in it for fun" kind of feel and gotten more shrill and blatantly partisan. He puts less thought into his program and special comments. Olbermann's essentially devolving into a left wing version of Sean Hannity.

Maddow is still amusing, at least. But I wonder how long before she ends up like him.

Well, to be fair, the things that started him down the road to the Special Comments and such have, over the years, only continued on and gotten worse besides. Given the constant provocation of the shitty state of the country/world, it's not terribly surprising that his ability to keep that old humor is running at a low ebb. I've pretty much stopped watching all of Countdown, Daily Show, and Colbert Report until at least the election, pretty much so that I don't end up getting that pissed off.

I propose a simple and fair way to resolve this conflict.
In the spirit of democracy, free debate and liberty, I propose these two should wrestle in a chocolate filled jacuzzi, with one dressed as Tifa and the other as Wonder Woman, fighting over who gets to wear the Almighty Strap-On of Freedom.

I'm sorry, I have to go now, we're only allowed five minutes on the internet in prison.

That was nothing like Olbermann...

He made too many faces. He's got the jovial face, the stern concerned face, the mocking face & the regular one.

And he mostly entirely uses the stern face for his commentaries.

Also, his head wasn't large enough. Haven't you been paying attention to Letterman? That man's head is huge! HUGE!

Yay! Olbermann!

I admit I'm a fan of Keith - he's funny. But I'm happy to have him appear in ShortPacked's universe, even if it is a caricature. ;)

Let me ask you, as a toy collector expert - is there a site or sites that track toy releases? Because I want to get the DC Infinite Heroes line, my first toy purchases in at least a decade, and I am frustrated at every turn.

I really want to see how the one with Starscreams for legs would walk. I imagine the Starscreams just start running. And they both plot to overthrow the torso.

I've seen a similar Hotshot knockoff in a 4 pack with what looked to be a slightly altered Override (minus the triggerbot guns and a modified windshield), heavily modified Cybertron Soundwave, and what looked to be a PowerRangers Turbo car

So I think I've finally got this figured out...

Mike micked up Ethan at a gay bar, where he was taken by Amber, who was so blind drunk, she didn't recall being at. They took Amber with them to a Lambada inn where they got her a separate room and put her to bed. In the middle of the night, whilist Mike and Ethan were having hotnakedmansex, Faz- who had been given the key to her room- made sweet love to Amber (still too drunk to recall).
After Ethan's brief rest, Mike left to go "wake up" next to Amber in an attempt to both scare and confuse her. The result- Both Ethan and Amber believe they've had relations with Mike and are then stuck in a feud, Robin is once again left out of the bow-chicka-wow-wow, and Faz lost his secret virginity in secret.

Now tell me I'm wrong and reveal what the hell happened already.

Well, it seems that Mike may ALSO have had relations with someone (probably Evan) from McAwesome's. And since Mike is such an asshole, that probably happened that night too.

this post was so amazing, it prompted - nay, INSPIRED - my roommate and I to run out to the nearest Big Lots and pick one of these fakes up for ourselves. I was tempted by a few of the other ones there, like the G1 Superion and the Transmetal 2 Megatron knockoffs, but we didn't wanna press our luck. The funniest part was that there were at least a dozen Classics 2-Pack Optimus Prime vs. Megatrons littered throughout the fakes.
