I wonder if one of his guns contains venom "snake." Shortpacked!: Shortpacked! -- for kids!
It's Easter time, and you know what that means. It means stores are crammed with giant Easter baskets full of cheap-ass toys, most of them illegal knockoffs! For example, there's the perennial bootleg Aerialbots, always an easy find. Sometimes there's a knockoff Zord or Lightning McQueen. Today we even found an oversized bootleg of G1 Dreadwind.
But ever so often you find crazy new things, like the Dinosaur Rangers. (At Kmart.) Ten years ago, our buddy Swift bought an offbrand transforming T-rex that seems to be from the same line as these transforming dinosaurs. We assume this because of the dino head positioning in robot mode and the spreading tail-halves on his shoulders. (We dubbed the T-rex "Megarex," after one of our favorite Beast Wars fanfic characters.) But here's a new set, featuring Megaraptor, Megaanklo, Mega... something... Half of them, according to their packaging photography, featured suggestively-placed dinosaur noggins in robot mode. There was another Easter basket that included an orange Megaraptor and a Megatriceratops twice his size.
I'm tempted to get them.
Sorely, sorely tempted.

You must tell where you found the oversized Dreadwing KO because that sounds like something that I may be willing to purchase. Which reminds me that I need to check out Big Lots again soon.
Kmart. It was up high! They had just one, and it seems to come with a Zord or something.

Yeah, I got my Ankyloguy in a bulk clearance warehouse chain here called "W.A. Salvage", which has now shut down. Of course, the back of the package showed all manner of dino-robots.. and all they had, en masse, was Ankylo. Mind you, I've since found both Megarex, and Minirex, so all is ok in the world.

I think I've even seen knock-offs of GMs from Mobile Suit Gundam in some of those Easter baskets. It is most amusing :)

Aw man, I'm a sucker for knock-offs. I dunno what it is about them. As it was stated above, Big Lots is the motherload. I check there on off days when I know I don't need to be spending a lot of money but I still want my fix. Nothing like a good knock-off to cheer you up! I'm always up for a Gundam knock-off myself (nothin' beats a GUDNAM).
My favorite TF knock-offs that I've seen were these HUGE mini-cons at Big Lots. They were great! Pretty much just the same as the regular minicons, only gigantic.

It's the orange. Just admit it, man. We understand.
At some BigLots, in their usual toy selection, I've seen KO versions of the Destiny Gundam and the Saviour Gundam from Gundam Seed Destiny. They're pretty big guys too. The stores are in the middle of a major stock rotation now, so some places have them and others don't at the moment.

is this an existential crisis?
I remember seeing at Wal-Mart an Easter basket 6 years ago with a complete set of knockoff Combaticons. Had all the Bruticus parts and everything.
I love how you can still see the Decepticon imprint on pseudo-Dreadwing, but with a US flag on there instead.
I wonder if that Dreadwind would combine with the Darkwing knockoff I have from a flea market many years ago.
That Beast Wars fanfic was frickin' awesome. I mean wow.
(((( Mega-Rex's robot mode: He have a different head, He is big as Megatron is, for weapon, He have 2 guns like inferno and another gun who contain venom "snake" and he can fly Beast and Robot mode "like Megatron" He have a shield, BUT he cannot stay in robot form except if he is in the base cause his the energon have
affected his body.))))
Pure, unadulterated genius.
Thanks for the heads-up, I always ignore the K-mart when I shop, and I love knock-offs.

The nearest K-mart being over 150 miles away has left me in despair!
And I live in the midle of the Dallaw/Fort Worth Metroplex. WTF K-Mart?
This was from a discussion about the new Iron Man cartoon: Seriously, do they really think that the only way to hit the children's market is to make the character a child?? What's next? "Transformers Babies"
Transformers Babies would be awesome!
I keep seeing KO Superion gift sets for Walmart Easter Baskets, Half tempted to buy it myself

Ya know, I've seen both the Dreadwind and Darkwing knockoffs quite a few times, not even just in these baskets. From my observations, they've removed the Powermaster dock port, but still package the Powermasters with them, painfully whited out the Decep logo to draw on American flags, and put weapons with them that couldn't possibly go with them. Anyone know why people would pick Powermasters to knock off? Gestalts, I understand. I've seen Superion, Bruticus (in and out of those Easter baskets, in G2 colors), Defensor, and Devestator (well, who HASN'T seen a knockoff Devy?)... I've even seen a knockoff that had three Aerialbots, two Combaticons, and a Stunticon (I'm actually suprised I've never seen a full Menasor knock). Powermasters, however, don't make sense to me. They seem like they'd be more trouble to knock than they're worth.
Right, the only reason anyone could not like the new cartoon is retarded fanboyism, it couldn't possibly be that they simply don't find the art style or writing appealing. The ONLY explanation is fanboyism. Yeah... Same with the live action movie, right?

The red dude is definitely a Pachycephalosaur. The green one is obscured by the glare, but my guess would be Iguanadon
I want one of those awesome "Kermit the Prime" t-shirts like that guy in the strip has.
--Obs, I did not ask for a Kermit the Mirpe t-shirt, I did not ask for a Kermit the Riemp t-shirt, I just want my Kermit the Prime t-shirt!... *flails arms* |
